If your truck’s heater is blowing cold air or not blowing at all, you’re not alone. As November temperatures drop across Iowa, we see more and more drivers coming in with heating issues in their gas and diesel trucks. Whether you’re dealing with a minor fix or a bigger issue, Beyer Motorsports in Cedar Falls can help you stay warm and safe this winter.
Here are some of the most common reasons your heater isn’t working properly:
Your truck’s heater relies on hot engine coolant circulating through the heater core to warm the air. If the coolant is low or there’s air trapped in the system, heat won’t be distributed correctly.
Fix: Check coolant levels and inspect for leaks. Our team can also bleed the system to remove air pockets that may be causing weak heat.
Your thermostat helps regulate engine temperature. If it’s stuck open, the engine won’t reach optimal operating temp and neither will your cabin.
Fix: Replace the thermostat to restore proper engine and cabin temperature regulation.
Over time, sediment and corrosion can build up in the heater core, blocking the flow of hot coolant and reducing heat output.
Fix: We can flush the system or replace the heater core if needed.
If you’re getting little to no air movement, even when the heat is on high, the blower motor might be the issue. It could also be a fuse or resistor.
Fix: Our diagnostics will identify if the blower motor, resistor, or wiring is causing the airflow issue.
The blend door controls how much hot vs. cold air flows through your vents. If it’s stuck or malfunctioning, your truck might blow cold air even on the hottest setting.
Fix: Replace the actuator or repair the blend door system.
Don’t let a broken heater make your drive miserable. At Beyer Motorsports, we service HVAC systems for all makes and models: gas, diesel, fleet, and semis.
